Undeniably, the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, stands proudly as one of the best institutions in India. This institution that offers courses in technology and engineering is popular across the country for its teaching quality and training. For this reason, around two lakh candidates take this national-level entrance examination for approximately two thousand seats spread across the BITS campuses in Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad.
Birla Institute of Technology and Science Aptitude Test (BITSAT), which is conducted annually for admissions to the courses spread across the BITS campuses, is not that easy. To be honest, this entrance examination sits behind the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), conducted by CBSE, in toughness. The BITSAT entrance exam will kick-start in the month of May. As the exam date is approaching, the last-month preparation should be focused only on revisions and important topics. Hence, we have decided to make a list of the most important topics for BITSAT 2018. Prior to the subject-wise important topics, let's start with the best way to start answering questions during BITSAT exam.
Best Way To Start Answering Questions During BITSAT
The BITSAT exam pattern consists of five sections, namely physics, chemistry, mathematics/biology, logical reasoning and English. What we recommend is always start with mathematics or physics because keeping these sections for the end will make you commit mistakes due to time constraint. After these two sections, you can solve the chemistry section and put English at the end because it can be done within ten minutes.
BITSAT Chemistry Important Topics
The chemical bonding has more weightage. If you are strong in this topic, assume more than ten percent of marks are in your pocket. The atomic structure, p-block elements, carboxylic acid & its derivatives, biomolecules and mole concepts together can fetch you more than thirty percent of the marks. Electrochemistry, chemical thermodynamics and alkanes, alkenes & alkynes are also equally important. If you have enough time after the revisions, then go for topics such as surface chemistry, redox reactions, gaseous state, solutions and polymers.
BITSAT Physics Important Topics
Without any second opinion, everyone will say that thermodynamics is the most important topic in BITSAT. After assessing the previous years' question papers, we understood that the magnetic effect of current & magnetism is no lesser than thermodynamics. Wave motion and current electricity will be the next important topics. Focus on fluids, wave optics, electrostatics and simple harmonic motion only after reading the above topics. Also, give attention to work energy power, rotational motion, elasticity and ray optics.
BITSAT Mathematics Important Topics
Everyone will agree that circles and straight lines are the most important topics in mathematics. Be thorough with the pair of straight lines, vectors and continuity & differentiability. The theory of equations, differential equations, complex numbers and binomial theorem are also equally important. The mathematics paper is unpredictable; hence, concentrate on topics such as mathematical induction, statistics, ellipse and inverse trigonometry.
BITSAT English Proficiency Important Topics
In the BITSAT exam, English is purely based on the basic grammar and vocabulary. Aspirants should also make a habit of fast reading besides writing. Be strong in the synonyms and antonyms because it will fetch you more marks. Focus on the sentence correction, one-word substitute and rearrangement of jumbled words.
BITSAT Logical Reasoning Important Topics
The logical reasoning has very less importance in the exam. It has only 10 questions out of total 150. Be practical and study for this section keeping this in mind during the last-month preparation. The figure formation, analogy test, series and figure matrix are very important. If you left with any time, then focus on logical deduction and completion of the figure test.
