Medical Entrance Exams 2019: Save The Dates Before Kick-starting The Preparation

Medicine is not only a prestigious profession but also a booming and rewarding one. This profession even enjoys the highest degree of respect in the society. For this reason, annually, over 13 lakh class 12 graduates write different medical entrance examinations.

Many changes have occurred in the medical entrance examinations in the recent past. One of the major decisions is merging the state-level medical entrance examinations with the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Many medical aspirants aware of this fact and might have started preparing for this national-level entrance examination.


While NEET - Under Graduate (UG) is mandatory for an admission to medical courses, there are a few medicine entrance examinations in the country which are individually best in their own standards.

National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test Under Graduate (NEET UG)

The NEET-UG, which is going to be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for the first time, is conducted for an admission to MBBS and BDS courses in medical colleges and institutes spread across the country.

All India Institutes Of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)

AIIMS, which is a group of autonomous public medical colleges, offers higher education in medicine. Candidates who crack this entrance exam will get an admission to the MBBS course offered in the AIIMS colleges spread across the country.

AIIMS 2019 Admission

The minimum qualification for AIIMS is at least a 60 percent aggregate in subjects such as biology, physics and chemistry at the 10+2 level. Candidates will get an admission to AIIMS, New Delhi, or in one of the eight other AIIMS (Patna, Bhopal, Jodhpur, Bhubaneswar, Rishikesh, Raipur, Guntur and Nagpur).

After NEET and AIIMS, JIPMER stands proudly in the third position as one of the leading medical entrance examinations in the country which is recognised by the government. The institute located at Puducherry carries its own entrance test for an admission to the courses in European medicine. It offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in medicine.

Online application forms: March 6 to April 12, 2019

Dates of examination: June 2, 2019

Date of announcing result: Third week of June

The HRD ministry has introduced the National Testing Agency (NTA) and transferred the authority to conduct NEET, which was earlier held by CBSE. It has also decided to withdraw its decision to conduct the exam twice a year. NEET 2019 will be conducted as an offline exam.
