Prioritise Resilience

Do you think that all those successful people out there made it to there destinies by just walking into the company and being offered great packages right away? If you have been fantasizing such a picture, let me remind you that it is still your fantasy and not the reality.

You know what happened to infamous Edison who failed 99 times before discovering the light bulb for the 100th time. But yes, his epoch is age old and today's market trends might've changed. The one thing that still remains the same is a failure and fighting your way out to success.

First, remember that it is okay to fail. You need not be successful every single minute. But the road to success is acceptance of failure and building confidence to face it. The time when you meet failure in the eye, is the day when you have already won over it and success comes hugging. Just by practising how to bounce back to normal will help you earn good jobs that may come late but for sure.

Soft Skills

What is this soft skills section that people always keep talking about and how to acquire it? Big winners are not people who are master of all the arts but those who can project their arts well. As the popular adage goes that first impressions are indelible, make your mark on the employers smartly. Here are few norms for soft skills practising:

  • Make your handshake firm
  • Carry a subtle smile on your lips to assure you are confident and amiable
  • Do not fidget with any objects or twist your hands. Keep them comfortably on the laps
  • Sit erect, preferably straight and not cross legged as some places might have cultural differences in posture
  • Do not display anxiety. Answer the questions in a firm but polite tone

Although communication skills is a part of soft skills, it plays a larger role in you getting a job. Why? Because, whats the point of knowing so much without the ability to express it in the language that your employers desire? It does not hurt or cost a bomb to go for language classes to gain fluency if it could get you a nice job, does it? Work on your communication skills by regularly reading and speaking. Does fear of embarrassment while talking deter you from practising it? Its okay! There are lots of people who have underwent the situtation that you did. Just confide your weakness to your trusted sources and practise speaking with them alone in initial stages and then to others. You can never reach heights without being shamed and it is okay to walk that path for greater things!

Attitude Determines Your Altitude

So, whenever you are rejected, showing an angry face to the recruiters is only going to slip your opportunities steeper. Why? Because, the employer might require your skill at a later stage or recommend you to another employer but showing faces could just push you down with a snap. Even if you are turned down, maintain a composure, say thank you and leave.

Do things differently

So if you keep doing the same things again, you will get the same results again. You mightve been active with a rigorous search and sending applications on job portals but nobody picked you up. Now, try going to the offices in person and drop your resumes! No pain, no gain. Try every possible means to get to where you are going and you will definitely acquire it one day.

Have patience but keep trying. The more you worry, the more you will fail. The less you worry, the less troubles will you see. So wear confidence and smile positively with your endeavours.
