SC Decision On Class 12th Board Exams 2021

Earlier, a PIL was filed to cancel Class 12th exams and proposed an objective methodology to prepare the board result. The petitioner also asked the apex court to take up the cancellation of the Class 12th case as suo motto.

The sources suggest that the CBSE and CISCE are likely to announce their decision in the first week of June regarding the Class 12th exams cancellation or exams in a reduced format or adopting alternative assessment. Union Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has conducted a virtual meeting with state education ministers and secretaries. Many states have expressed that they are in favour of conducting the board exams in a shorter format for major subjects when the conditions are conducive to hold exams.

In April, the Union government has cancelled the CBSE Class 10 board exams and postponed the Class 12th board exams due to the COVID-19 pandemic. CISCE has also postponed the ISC (Class 12th) exams till further order. The CBSE has proposed an alternative assessment scheme to prepare the Class 10 result 2021, which is likely to be released in July.
