Institute of International Education (IIE), which is one among the world's largest international education organizations, has released its annual Open Doors Report 2019. IIE releases the Open Doors Report as part of International Education Week (IEW). The Report includes detailed information and data about post-secondary student flows into and out of the USA during the previous academic year.
According to the Open Doors Report 2018-19 academic year, over one million international students came to the United States of America to pursue their education. This is the fourth consecutive year for the USA to witness over one million students. International students made a huge financial impact on the USA in 2018-19, contributing $44.7 billion. This is an increase of 5.5 per cent compared to the previous year.

The Report suggests that the overall number of international students also increased by 0.5 per cent. The enrollment of the new international students also fell by 0.9 per cent. The number of students participating in the Optical Practical Training (OPT) also increased by 9.6 per cent compared to last year.
Over 52 per cent of international students in the USA come from China and India. The countries such as Bangladesh, Brazil, Nigeria and Pakistan had shown some strongest growth year over year. Indian students make up nearly 18 per cent of all international students in the USA, sitting next only to China.

The United States continues to remain on top for welcoming the most number of international students globally. Engineering is the most opted field of study for international students. However, a 9.4 per cent increase in maths and computer science programs among international students.
