After announcing the replacement of University Grants Commission (UGC) with Higher Education Commission of India (HECI), introducing the National Testing Agency (NTA) was the big decision made by the HRD ministry. NTA was approved by the Union Cabinet as an autonomous and self-sustained premier testing organisation to conduct entrance examinations for higher educational institutions.
The HRD ministry feels that NTA will bring a qualitative difference in the examination process by shifting its focus to research and scientific test design using services of experts, researchers, statisticians, psychometricians, test item writers and education specialists.
NTA has recently released the exam schedule for five examinations that include JEE Main, NEET (UG), UGC NET, CMAT and GPAT. The agency has also started accepting online applications for JEE Main I 2019, which will be conducted in January 2019, and UGC NET December 2018.
According to the official sources, over 2697 test practice centres are going to be set up across the country to help students get familiar with the pattern of the competitive entrance exams along with the computer-based exam. The HRD ministry has also announced that the TPCs will be established in the rural areas to help students from remote areas.
NTA has started the student registration for the mock tests and many students expressed their doubts about the process. Here are the steps to register for the free mock tests available on the NTA website.
