NEET 2020 Postponement: JEE Main, NEET Exam Live Updates: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a circular regarding the change of examination centers for NEET (UG) - 2020 keeping in mind the COVID precautions and SOP guidelines issued by the Union Health Ministry.

The NTA in a release said, "The National Testing Agency (NTA) hereby informs that the Examination Centers of NEET (UG) - 2020 Examination scheduled on 13 September 2020 from 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM for some of the candidates have been changed due to implementation of COVID-19 measures."

"There is no change in the Centre Cities of the candidates, only centres have been changed. The concerned candidates have already been informed by NTA through SMS and email. They are also being informed telephonically. Such candidates are advised to download their latest admit card available on NEET website (https://ntaneet.nic.in) and report as per the details given in latest Admit Card at the new Examination Centre for NEET (UG) - 2020 Examination on 13 September 2020," the release fruther stated.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is tasked with conducting the JEE Main Exam starting from September 1 to September 6, 2020 in 660 exam centers while NEET 2020 Exam is scheduled to be held on September 13 between 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm amid nationwide clamor for postponement NEET Exam 2020 due to the COVID-19 scare.

The JEE Main examination process conducted by NTA across the 660 designated testing centers in the country concluded on September 6, 2020 with 6.5 lakh students appearing for the JEE Main exam out of 8.5 lakh candidates registered.

Conveying the same Education Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank had tweeted, "Out of 8.58 lakh JEE Mains applicants, 6.35 lakhs appeared for the exam."

What Next After JEE Main?

With JEE Main concluding on September 6, 2020 the first set 2.5 lakh students passing the JEE Main exam of the 8.5 lakh appeared will be eligible to take up the JEE Advanced 2020 scheduled on September 27 registration for which will start from September 11 onwards.

Post-JEE Advance, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) under MHRD will initiate the counseling process for the year 2020 for candidates qualifying the JEE Main and JEE Advanced for allocation of seats into 100 plus (107) premier institutions throughout the country including 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 28 other government funded technical institutes (Other-GFTIs) offering admissions to all the academic programs through a single platform. The JoSAA counseling process is likely to commence from October 6 onwards.

SC On JEE Main, NEET 2020 Postponement

The Supreme Court bench led by Justice Ashok Bhushan dismissed the review petition filed by six states over postponing the JEE Main, which in underway and NEET Exam 2020 amid increasing COVID cases in the country stating that the review plea lacks merit and observed that no case is made out for reconsidering its earlier decision.

Earlier, on August 17 the apex court had rejected the petition that sought JEE Main and NEET 2020 postponement considering students safety amid spike in COVID cases. With this ruling, the NEET 2020 (UG) Exam will be conducted as per the schedule on September 13 with all necessary precautions and SOP guidelines.

First 2.5 lakh (2,50,000) students passing the JEE Main exam will be eligible to take up the JEE Advanced 2020 scheduled on September 27 registration for which will commence from September 11 onwards.

Approximately around 8.5 lakhs students are appearing for the JEE Main exam while closes to 15 lakh students are likely to appear for the NEET 2020 Exam scheduled to be conducted on September 13 on this month.

Earlier, the Union Education Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal'Nishank said stated that the JEE Main and NEET 2020 Exam will be conducted as per the schedule and added that the number of JEE Main exam centres have been increased to 660 from 570 while are around 3,842 NEET centres, up from 2,546 for the convenience of students.

Approximately 45 per cent students from Gujarat gave a miss to the JEE Main which began yesterday, according to a senior official.

"On the first day, out of 3,020 registered students, only 1,664, or 55 per cent, remained present, while 1,356 (45 per cent) did not turn up. Normally, 25-30 per cent students skip the exams every year. The percentage this year is higher by 10-15," said Virendra Ravat, JEE Coordinator for Gujarat as per PTI report.

JEE Main Exam Update: B.Arch, Planning Paper Gets Over In First Shift:

The B.Arch, Planning papers were conducted in the first session on the JEE Main today between 9:00 am to 12:00 pm with around 1.38 lakh (1,38,409) students appearing for the B.Arch paper while approximately 60,000 candidates doing so for B.Planning this year.

The B.Arch Paper that was held in the first shift had questions varying from easy to moderate level, according to experts.

Bombay High Court Declines Stay On JEE Main Exam: The Bombay High Court (Nagpur bench) has declined to stay the on-going JEE Main exam while observing that those affected by floods in parts of Maharashtra and are unable to take the exam can reach out to the appropriate authority (NTA) seeking re-examination.

"Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court allows the conducting of #JEE examination. The Court issues direction that those who are affected by flood and can't reach the exam centres may apply to the appropriate authority - National Testing Agency (NTA)," news agency ANI reported.

Supreme Court on JEE Main, NEET Exam: Amid increasing COVID-19 cases in the country, students have written to CJI Justice Arvind Bobde seeking postponement of the scheduled JEE Main and NEET Exam in the view of the pandemic and flood situation in certain parts of the country.

One of the letters addressed to the CJI termed the conducting of JEE Main and NEET Exam as in clear violation of Article 21 on the Indian Constitution as it endangers the lives of lakhs of students to the COVID-19 virus.

The Supreme Court on August 17 had dismissed petitions seeking delay in conducting the JEE Main and NEET Exam scheduled for the month of September stating that students career cannot be put on a hold for long.

Goa CM Wishes JEE Main, NEET Exam Aspirants

Goa Chief Minister Promod Sawant has declared that around 5,500 candidates will be appearing in NEET and JEE examinations in his state. The chief minister has extended his warm wishes to the JEE Main and NEET Exam aspirants while assuring all necessary support for successful conduct of JEE and NEET 2020 exams.

"Around 5,500 candidates will be appearing in NEET and JEE examinations in Goa. I convey my best wishes to these candidates. They need to take precautions while appearing in the exams," Goa Chief Minister Promod Sawant was reported saying by ANI.

MP, Odisha To Provide Free Transport For JEE Main, NEET Exam Aspirants

The Government of Madhya Pradesh will be providing free transport for students appearing in JEE Main and NEET Exam scheduled in September to facilitate students movement from block or district headquarters to the examination centre.

Confirming the Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had on Sunday stated that his is arranging free-of-cost transport facility for candidates appearing in JEE and NEET exams.

Candidates who wish to avail this facility must register themselves either by dialling 181, or registering themselves on a dedicated portal here by August 31.

Likewise, the Odisha government too has announced free transport and accommodation for JEE Main and NEET Exam aspirants. Chhattisgarh also has announced adequate transport facilities for students.

Railways Provide 'Special Suburban Services' To JEE Main, NEET Exam Aspirants

Students appearing for JEE Main and NEET Exam in Mumbai can now travel to their designated exam centres by the special suburban services (SSS) on exam days.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal extending support to JEE Main, NEET Exam students tweeted, "Supporting students appearing for NEET & JEE exams, Railways has permitted them, and their guardians to travel by special suburban services in Mumbai on exam days."

While JEE, NEET admit cards will treated as entry pass for entering the suburban stations even as general passengers have been requested not to commute.
