The Visvesvaraya Technological University will be seeing many changes in this way things happened in the varsity. On Tuesday the Executive Council had taken major decisions related to examinations after the numerous demands were put forth by the students.
Visvesvaraya Technological University previously spelled as Visveswaraiah Technological University is a collegiate public state university in Karnataka State, India. It was established by the Government of Karnataka.
The major change, from this year onward is that the 60-40 examination pattern will be started for the CBCS students for the 2017-18 year. This new step will be applied to the students who joined the university from this year.
The new scheme, for the CBCS scheme the University will be allotting 60 marks for the Theory Paper and for the Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE) 40 marks will be allotted.
The CIE will also consist of elements from the assessments in the colleges. The students who are already under CBCS scheme will be continuing with the 80-20 pattern, and there won't be any change for them.
For the new 60-40 pattern the students will require to write the examination for 100 marks for each paper, which will then be evaluated for 60 marks.
No More Back systems
The Visvesvaraya Technological university has also made a major change by removing the year back and critical year back systems. The council decided on Tuesday that they will be allowing the students to leave the course with the backlogs, and have called it 'Exit Scheme'.
The students will be required to wrote the exams after they get the eligibility under the critical year pattern. The students will have to take up examination when the corresponding exams will be going on.
A demand to introduce supplementary exams for the Non-CBCS and CBCS students was also put forth by the student community. The concerned officials have stated that the action would not be undertaken as the Council felt that the system's quality would lower if it happens.
