Maharashtra colleges and universities to reopen from February 15. Minister for Higher and Technical Education Uday Samant said that the colleges and universities can start the classes with 50 per cent attendance on a rotation basis. The colleges and universities across Maharashtra closed after the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in March.

Uday Samant tweeted, "It has been approved to start regular classes in all non-agricultural universities, reputed universities, self-financed universities and their affiliated colleges in the state from Monday, February 15, 2021. Colleges will start as per the guidelines of the University Grants Commission."

Universities and colleges are allowed to conduct the examinations both online and offline The decision was taken after considering the COVID situation. Minister announced that universities can prepare their own SOPs. The government will observe the first phase (February 15 to March 5) of reopening colleges and universities in Maharastra and review the situation and take a call on the future course of action.
Minister Samant said. "If a college is found violating government norms, it will face legal action."
Samant said that all hostels may not reopen from February 15 along with classes as some of them are being used as quarantine centres. The government is also preparing a list of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding reopening of colleges and universities.
