Karnataka State Education Minister S Suresh Kumar announced that the decision on whether to hold exams for class 1 to 9 or not will be taken in the next two days. Around 44 stakeholders including school representatives, parents' association, and education experts were called for a meeting held by the Education Department to discuss regarding the same.
Recently, the Karnataka government suspended all classes from Grades 6 to 9 due to the second wave of coronavirus, raising questions on holding exams.
According to the Minister "Everyone present in the meeting was allowed to give their opinion. The unaided schools want to take the summative assessments. Everything will be considered once before taking any decision or coming to a conclusion."
In many states, students have been promoted without exams; however, Karnataka is yet to take a decision on this. Meanwhile, the primary and secondary schools of Karnataka- KAMS association, said that it is unfair not to conduct examinations for students who have been attending classes regularly.
