IIM Kozhikode Offers Short Term Course On Communication Skills

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode is holding a communication skills course on 'impersonal, interpersonal and hyperpersonal comunication at work' betweem December 18 and December 22, 2016.

The course is part of the Human Resource Development Ministry (HRDM) sponsored Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN).

IIM Kozhikode Offers Short Term Course


In today's technology- enabled world, effective communication is the need of the hour for people across the world with diverse backgrounds. This course will cover the principles and practice of effective communication from analysing the communication context and dynamics of relational status to delivering ideas. Participants at IIM Kozhikode will be taught to identify their own stereotypes, prejudices, and communication behaviours that can create barriers to impersonal, interpersonal, and hyperpersonal relationships.


GIAN courses aim to provide opportunities to students to seek knowledge and experience from reputed international faculty. It helps them create avenues for possible collaborative research with international faculty.

According to the official website of Gian, Govt. of India approved a new program titled Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) in Higher Education aimed at tapping the talent pool of scientists and entrepreneurs, internationally to encourage their engagement with the institutes of Higher Education in India so as to augment the country's existing academic resources, accelerate the pace of quality reform, and elevate India's scientific and technological capacity to global excellence.

During the 'Retreat' of IITs with Minister of Human Resource Development Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani on 29th June, 2014 at Goa, it was decided that "A system of Guest Lectures by internationally and nationally renowned experts would be evolved along with a comprehensive Faculty Development Programme not only for new IITs, IIMs, IISERs but also other institutions in the country.
