The Indian Air Force (IAF) has invited applications from Indian nationals (unmarried males) for selection as Airmen under Group X and Group Y Trades to be commissioned as Officers, Navigators and Pilots with the air wing of the Indian armed forces by 21 January 2019.
Candidates seeking application for selection as Airmen with the IAF must be born between 19 January 1999 and 01 January 2003 with 21 years as the upper age limit.
The applications must be submitted through online registration only commencing from 02 January 2019 to 21 January 2019 on payment of Rs. 250/- as exam registration fee. The payment can be made through credit/debit card or netbanking gateway.

Educational Credentials For Group X And Y Trades
Candidates seeking application under Group X Trade must have passed the HSC/10+2/Intermediate or an equivalent exam with minimum 50% marks (aggregate) in Physics, Mathematics and English papers, and secured 50% marks in English or must have passed a 3-year Diploma course in any branch of engineering from a Govt.-recognised Polytechnic institute with minimum 50% marks (aggregate) and 50% marks in English in diploma.
Candidates applying under Group Y Trades must have passed the HSC/10+2/Intermediate or an equivalent exam with minimum 50% marks (aggregate) in any of the streams/disciplines approved by the Central/State Education Boards and secured 50% marks in English.
Candidates applying under Group Y Trade for Medical Assistant Trade must have passed the HSC/10+2/Intermediate or an equivalent exam with minimum 50% marks (aggregate) in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and secured 50% marks in English.
The selected candidates shall be initially appointed for a period of 20 years, extendable up to 57 years of age. During the course of the training, the candidates for all Trades will be paid a stipend of Rs Rs. 14,600/- per month. On completion of training candidates under Group X Trades will be paid a salary of Rs. 33,100/- per month with additional allowances and candidates under Group Y will be paid a salary of Rs. 29,900/- per month with additional allowances.
The selected Airmen under Group X & Y Trades will also be provided with a Group Insurance Cover of Rs. 37.5 Lakhs at a premium of Rs. 2300/- per month.
The selection of Airmen under Group X & Y Trades will be done through an online test in Phase I and Phase II, followed by a Physical Fitness Test (PFT). Candidates qualifying it will be called for Adaptability Tests I and II followed by a Medical Examination.
The online exams will be held from 14 March to 17 March 2019.
Candidates are required to meet the physical and medical standards as prescribed by Central Airmen Selection Board (CASB) for the selection of Airmen for different Trades.
