Central Varsities Assure To Implement Choice Based Credit System

New Delhi: Central Universities across India vow to introduce the choice based credit system (CBCS) from the coming academic session.

Vice Chancellors of all the universities including Delhi University have assured to roll out the CBCS during the meeting held recently.

While the Benaras Hindu University has plans to introduce the syllabi in phases in different departments.

"Out of 39 central universities, 37 have introduced CBCS at the post-graduate level. While 13 new central universities do not have under graduate programmes, 18 universities have already introduced CBCS at UG level," said the HRD Ministry

Addressing the meeting Ministry said "The UGC has developed syllabi on 103 subjects, 85 of which are main line courses and 18 are specialised courses, giving 30 percent choice to the universities to made amendments in the courses."

According to TOI, the meeting was chaired by higher education secretary V S Oberoi in the absence of HRD minister Smriti Irani.
