HAL & IISc Sign MoU To Start Skill Development Centre

With an aim to promote skill development in the country and to start a new skill development centre at the new campus of IIS at Challakere in Chitradurga, Karnataka, the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, Karnataka have entered into a collaboration.


Financial assistance for the construction of the centre at the new campus of IIS in Chitradurga, Karnataka is being provided by the HAL, and the centre will offer skill development programmes for the benefit of the local community.

According to the director of IISc, C. Anurag Kumar, the construction of the centre will be completed in 24 months and from March 2019 he is expecting that training programmes shall be started at the centre.

According to chief managing director at HAL T. Suvarna Raju, the centre will provide skill training in line with the Skill India Initiative of the government of India and will also go a long way in providing employable skills to the youth of the country.

The aim of the centre is to ensure that the students who join it are able to get jobs in the job market.

Government to bring in an ambitious plan that aims to impart skill training to more than 10 lakh people. The training will be provided by faculty of engineering colleges to unemployed youth with a vision to make them employable in the next 3 years. The scheme- 'PMKVY by Technical Institutions', comes under the larger umbrella of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, officials in the HRD ministry told PTI.
