Composite Scores to be used for Engineering admissions in Maharashtra

Composite Scores to be used for Engg admissions

Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra has announced the dates for first year engineering / technology courses admissions.

From this year DTE uses 'Composite Score' of the students aspiring for admissions in Maharashtra engineering colleges. Composite Score is used to prepare the final merit list to allot seats based on the Centralised Admission Process (CAP).

What is Composite Score?

  • This score will be calculated by giving 50:50 marks weightage to entrance score and board exam score.
  • DTE will prepare composite score by giving 50 percentile to scores obtained in JEE Main 2014 Paper 1 and 50 percentile for marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in class 12th board examination.
  • The Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata has developed this formula to calculate the normalised percentile as well as the composite score.

According to DTE officials, if any of the students who cleared the class 12th examination from boards other than ICSE / CBSE or Maharashtra state, their percentile will be calculated according to the marks obtained by them in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

This percentile will also be applicable to the students who belong to the International Baccalaureate (IB) schools.

As per the DTE information, first year engineering admission registration will commence from July 2.
