Bangalore, March 19, 2014: The Global Business Challenge (GBC) 2014 hosted by CIMA, the premier global accounting body, kicked off with the Southern regional finals in Bangalore on March 15, 2014.
Eight teams, namely Tetrachrome (Vidya Bharathi Group of Institutions, Cochin), Ecogeeks (Christ University, Bangalore), Ordinares (Loyola College, Chennai), Miracle Makers (Anna Adarsh College for Women, Chennai), Indian Bridgers (Jain University, Bangalore), The Crusaders (IIT-Madras, Chennai), Bull's Eye (NIT Trichy, Trichy) and Optimist (Jain University, Bangalore) participated in the regional finals held at Bangalore.
Team Bull's Eye from NIT Trichy, comprising of four students - Ayush Tibrewala, Raghu Ram, Mohit Asnani and Pradeep Varma, emerged as the winners from South region.
The jury consisted of eminent corporate leaders such as Sanjay Ramanujam, Managing Director, Biodiversity Conservation India Pvt. Ltd; Vinesh Singh, Chief Operating & Financial Officer, Startup retail venture; Christa Gebhart, Global Finance Head of Corporate Development Center, Siemens; Pradeep Swaminathan, Executive Director - Finance, Bharat Earth Movers Ltd and Divya Goel, Head of Process Excellence - F&A & HR Operations, GMR Group.
Speaking on the occasion of first regional round, Debasish Biswas, Country Head, CIMA India, said, "The annual Global Business Challenge is a great opportunity for undergraduate students from universities and colleges around the world to showcase their talent and skills in business management. This year we've seen a surge of entries, with around 500 entries coming in from across India. With a 40 % increase in case study submissions compared to last year, we are overwhelmed to see the enthusiasm amongst students. By giving students an opportunity to work in teams and exhibit their analytical proficiency and business intelligence, CIMA is opening a new path for their future careers as business leaders."
The regional finals in the East, West and North zones are slated to be held during the next few weeks. Following the regional rounds, the winners will compete for the India finals on April 13, 2014.
The CIMA Global Business Challenge is an international business competition designed to bring out the best in the young business leaders of tomorrow. The competition is organized in partnership with Barclays, who shares CIMA's vision of developing and nurturing young talent around the world.
