The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced a free online training programme on 'Storytelling as Pedagogy'. According to the council, the programme will consist of one webinar, course material, and evaluation and will be delivered online in many languages.
The CBSE stated that in a varied country like India, where classrooms are packed with children from various cultural backgrounds, storytelling can serve in accomplishing the goal of having inclusive classrooms.
'It is important to have inclusive classrooms, to foster empathy in the classroom, and to enable children to achieve universal understanding via the unique experiences of other students and the community at large. Stories may serve this purpose because they open the mind and prepare the hearer to take in new information,' the CBSE stated.
'Storytelling as a tool of pedagogical can provide a way to transform this multicultural, diverse classroom into a broader classroom where students understand each other and appreciate and celebrate diversity,' it stated, adding that storytelling changes the classroom environment and improves the learning atmosphere.
Between June 14 and 29, 2021, the webinars will take place in five languages: English, Hindi, Tamil, Bangla, and Punjabi.
The CBSE stated that the webinar content would be the same and asked candidates to attend one webinar in their preferred language. Webinars will be held in additional languages based on demand, it said.
The webinars will be live-streamed on the board's YouTube channel. Click Here to know more information regarding the CBSE training programme.
