The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has stated that the board has not taken any decision yet regarding the cancellation of the Class 12 Board Exam 2021. There is a strong demand from a section of students and parents to cancel the board exams for Class 12 amid the rising Covid-19 cases across the country. Earlier, the education ministry after a meeting with PM Modi and CBSE officials has cancelled the Class 10 board exam and announced that the final decision regarding the Class 12 board exams will be taken in June.
"The decision regarding the cancellation of exams for Class 12 has not been taken yet, as being speculated in several media reports. Any decision regarding this matter will be announced officially for the students," said the ministry in an official statement.
Meanwhile, CBSE had informed the cancellation of Class 10 board exams on April 14, 2021, and postponed the Class 12 board exams due to the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic. The officials took the decision in a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi around a month ago.
This year, the CBSE board exams were scheduled to be held from May 4, 2021. "The Class 12 board exams have been deferred and the revised dates will be issued after June 01. The students will be informed about the exam dates at least 15 days prior to the exams," stated a board official earlier.
Earlier this month, the CBSE had announced the special criterion for marking policy for Class 10 board exams. The class 10 results will be announced on the basis of pre-boards, mid-term marks, and assessment.
Over 14 lakh students will be appearing for the Class 12 board exams this year. The Class 12 exams are important for students as it is the minimum eligibility requirement for any entrance exams and college admissions.
