Bangalore's Mount Carmel students to write exam on electronic device

Mount Carmel students to write exam without paper

Technology has made things easy for the students of Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. They have to write their examinations not in the traditional way using pen and paper, but on an electronic device.

Introducing a wave of innovation, the BBM department of the Carmel college has prepared a to conduct the examination paper-less for its final year students.

A Chennai based company introduced an electronic device that resembles tablets and its texture resembles paper. It has another device similar to a pen which can be used to write on it. Students can write on it like they do on paper. They can color, highlight, underline and erase. They can call that device as Exampad.

The written answer scripts can be evaluated online, and can be sent to the students for review. These scripts can be stored digitally. An evaluator can evaluate these scripts remotely.

"We were looking at ways to reduce wastage of paper. That's when this technology was brought to our notice. College authorities will look at the logistics, and if feasible, scale up the project," said S Rajkumar, a faculty.

Last week students got demo on how to use of the device. The examination will be written using this exampad.

"The best part about this device is you don't get panic attacks seeing your friends going for those extra sheets of paper even as you struggle to fill that one booklet you have," joked Priyanka Raghuram, another student.
