AIDSO demands an increase in merit quotas in private colleges

By Anusha

Bangalore: AIDSO activists protested in front of Town Hall against government's action to terminate merit quota.

AIDSO State president, V N Rajashekhar said "The Congress government had connived with the capitation fee lobby. There would be no government quota in private colleges in future and the private managements would raise the fee structure astronomically. The students would be forced to appear for Comed-K exams to get seats in private colleges."

AIDSO's demands for State government

In order to end the seat blocking and to make sure that the admission is fair, the State government has made up its mind to implementing the 2006 Act ( Karnataka Professional Educational Institutions Regulation of Admission and Determination of Fee). However, the in reality it is designed to legalise sky-high fees and bargaining of seats, he professed.

Kaushik R, secretariat member of AIDSO called upon parents and students to propel the government to put an end to Comed-K exams and to allow only CET to be considered as the entrance exam to get admissions to private colleges.
