University of Lincoln Offers BA (Hons) Fashion Programme Admissions

USPs of the course: BA (Hons) Fashion at the UK-based University of Lincoln is a highly creative course designed with a focus on the contemporary, interdisciplinary and collaborative elements of the fashion industry. Taught at the University's School of Fine & Performing Arts, the course is ranked 3rd in the UK according to the National Student Survey 2015.


The programme's objective is to explore fashion as a multi-faceted, interdisciplinary subject area. It aims to provide students with cognitive, transferable, employability and discipline specific skills whilst engaging them in a number of modules that provide a broader sense of fashion in an expanding cultural landscape. The course content has been designed to stimulate innovation through conceptual design, fashion illustration, creative pattern drafting, garment development, millinery, costume design, collaboration and performance.

Key modules of the programme:

Fashion Elements: Design, Construction and Cut; Fashion Architecture; Fashion Reconstruction; Advanced Millinery and Professional Profile. A module in designing costume for performance enables the student to work collaboratively as part of a production team, enabling the students to develop transferable skills appropriate to collaborative environments. There are also other possibilities for fashion students to develop costume-making skills and approaches within the extra-curricular programme available across the School.

Lincoln School of Fine & Performing Arts is the only school in the country, to date, combining the Fine and the Performing Arts in such an explicit way. The students will benefit from contemporary facilities such as professional studio and workshop spaces that are set up with a wide range of industrial machinery, millinery equipment, a digital fabric printer, laser cutters and 3D printers. They will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience through live projects, competitions, work placements and engage with experts from fashion and the creative industries throughout their degree.

Course graduates can work as Fashion Designers, Stylists, Milliners, Fashion Writers, Fashion Illustrators and Costume Designers. Additionally, they can look for career possibilities in teaching, event management, arts management, artist representation and technical work.

Eligibility Criteria:

Indian students with good grades in standards 10 and 12 will be considered. English language at IELTS 6, with no band less than 5.5, or equivalent English Language, qualification will be considered.

The University is looking for highly creative and ambitious applicants from a variety of art and design backgrounds. Personal portfolios should communicate individual styles of working and experimental fashion interests and include evidence of an ability to draw, design, observe, make, translate and explore ideas in interesting ways.

Course Fee: £14,500 per year

Scholarships: £1500 will be deducted from first year's programme fees as part of Science & Arts Scholarship for self-funding international students.
