CSAB 2018: What You Have To Know Before JoSAA Counselling Begins

With the announcement of JEE Advanced results 2018 , the bells are about to ring for the counselling event to begin. Most of the students are aware of the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA), which is responsible for the seat allotment and counselling procedure. Since the JEE Advanced results are out, candidates have to register and start choice filling for the counselling session, which will take place between June 19 and July 15, 2018.

Apart from JoSAA, there is one more important seat allocation board students should be familiar with. The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) is conducted for admissions into NITs, IIITs and CFTIs. This counselling is done for those candidates who possess a valid JEE Main qualifying scorecard and are not eligible for the JoSAA counselling. Considering the previous year's dates, the registration for CSAB 2018 will start during the last week of July 2018.

This is also a national-level counselling event and admissions to the participating institutes will be done through a student's JEE Main rank. A total of 19 institutes are participating in CSAB 2018. CSAB Round For NITs, IIITs & CFTIs

  • The counselling will be conducted through CSAB for NITs, IIITs and CFTIs.
  • Only candidates who qualified in JEE Main 2018 are eligible to register for this counselling event.
  • Candidates have to register for the JoSAA counselling to participate in CSAB counselling.
  • Minimum 45% marks are required in class 12 or an equivalent exam from a recognised board.
  • Candidates have to pay the counselling fee for registering for CSAB.
  • After the registration, choice filling, locking of filled choices, the seat allocation will take place.
  • Seat allotment will be based on the student's merit and choices filled. One who attains a seat has to report to the respective institute for confirmation.

CSAB NEUT (North-eastern States And Union Territories)

  • This is conducted for students who belong to the north-eastern states and four Union Territories (Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep).
  • The choice filling is expected to kick-start during the second week of July.
  • Only candidates who meet the eligibility criteria of JEE Main 2018 are eligible to register.
  • Minimum 45% marks are required in class 12 or an equivalent exam from a recognised board.
  • The counselling procedure will be similar to that of JoSAA.
  • Candidates have to report to their respective institutes for confirmation of admission.

CSAB SFTI (Self Financed Technical Institutes)

  • The counselling is conducted for an admission to the four-year BTech courses in the Self Financing Technical Institutes (SFTI).
  • Candidates should possess a qualifying JEE Main 2018 scorecard besides minimum 45% marks in class 12 or an equivalent board exam.
  • The counselling procedure will be similar to that of JoSAA.
  • The registration is expected to start during the first week of August.

CSAB UT (Supernumerary Seats For Union Territories)

  • This counselling is conducted for candidates who are from UTs such as Daman & Diu, Lakshadweep & Khandvi, Andaman & Nicobar, Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
  • Candidates are required to fill their choices based on the seat matrix shown on the official website after the registration.
  • Students who withdraw their admission before the sixth round of JoSAA counselling will be eligible.
  • There are many prerequisites for this round. We suggest the candidates wait for the official announcement.

The registration for the JoSAA counselling will begin from the June 15, 2018. The CSAB 2018 counselling is expected to start only after the seventh round of the JoSAA 2018 counselling.
