US Embassy members interact with students to prevent visa frauds

The US Embassy recently held an interaction program with aspiring students in Sector 17. The program was organised by the Consular Section (CTI), in Partnership with Education USA, to discuss the benefits of a US education and to explain the visa application process to aspiring students.

Mr. Paul Swider, Consular Office at the US Embassy, while interacting with students in 'The American Corner', Central State Library, on Friday said, "Students aspiring to study abroad should directly contact the embassy of that country instead of agents to prevent any visa frauds."

Swider said, "Students will need to apply a year in advance if they want to get their visa easily."

Talking about the visa application process, he said, "The entire process takes almost a year. Moreover, students need to be very clear about the college or university they seek to join and get all information about it."

"The education structure of both the countries was different, and therefore, students had to check if they fulfilled all the criteria as per the eligibility conditions mentioned by the universities, during admissions", he added.

"In fewer cases, you will be required to do a few more courses apart from your degree in India", he informed.

The main aim of US Embassy is to promote US higher education by facilitating student travel with over 1,00,000 Indian students, currently enrolled in various US colleges and universities.
