AIEEE Results 2012 - Record Analysis
The AIEEE - 2012 (All India Engineering Entrance Exam) results were declared late night on Saturday. AIEEE which is not just an entrance exam but also the biggest engineering exam in the country with over a million number of candidates every year.


About 11.37 lakh students were registered this year, among them 83,049 students had registered for the AIEE Architecture section. According to the board, the qualifying marks for this year will be 48 for open category, 45 for Other backward classes, 18 for SC/ST and 18 for physically challenged candidates.

AIEEE is a gateway to several top-rung engineering colleges, including the National Institute of Technology, IIT's and Delhi Technological University. According to the record 3 candidates from city scores place among the top 100. Pranav Manerikar, an candidate from the city, stood 39th in the AIEEE-2012.

Many students say that they performed well in AIEE because of the preparations for IIT-JEE. 4 students from the city figured in top 100, with one from the region who was in Chandigarh for his coaching also makes it to top 100. Top students are : Shivam Garg, AIR 44, UT Rank-1, Saurabh Sharma, AIR 54, UT Rank- 2, and Varun Syal, AIR 112, UT Rank- 4 .

Student will now have to proceed for counselling and choose colleges as per their merit rankings. More details on counselling are available at the AIEEE Exam Website. Last year 34,311 engineering seats were grabbed in centrally-funded institutions and the number will be more or less the same this year.

Also state institutes also use the AIEEE rank and conduct their own counselling. From next year the AIEEE will be replaces by the JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) which will also be a gateway for the IIT's.
