Apart from India's pioneer institutes in management, such as IIMs, a lot of international private management institutes, who have started taking advantage by establishing a branch in India to meet increase in demand for seats, exist too. Many national-level entrance examinations, such as Common Admission Test (CAT) and Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT), are conducted for admissions to prestigious management colleges.

Apart from the national-level entrance examinations, the state-level management entrance examinations are also gaining importance specifically from the past few years because of the quality of education provided by the institutes. The state-level entrance examinations are required to get an admission to management courses at institutes spread across the state. Top State-level MBA Entrance Examinations

Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MAH-CET)

The MAH-CET stands on top amongst the state-level management entrance examinations due to the high number of students appearing for the test. The entrance exam is conducted for an admission to courses, such as PGDBM, PGDM and MMS, offered in various management institutes spread across Maharashtra. It is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra. MAH-CET is based on the four sections, namely verbal ability, reading comprehension, quantitative aptitude and logical reasoning.

Karnataka Management Aptitude Test (KMAT)

The KMAT is conducted for admissions to more than 160 management institutes in Karnataka. KMAT is conducted by Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA). It is conducted thrice a year in the months of May, July and September. KMAT consists of three sections, namely language comprehension, mathematical skills and basic aptitude.

Andhra Pradesh Integrated Common Entrance Test (APICET)

This is one of the popular entrance examinations in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is conducted by the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE). This year, Sri Venkateswara University in Tirupati is conducting APICET on behalf of APSCHE. This offline exam consists of three sections, namely mathematical ability, analytical ability and communication. The duration of the exam will be two hours and thirty minutes and will be conducted on May 2, 2018.

Telangana State Integrated Common Entrance Test (TSICET)

After splitting from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana is conducting its own entrance test for admissions to management courses since 2015. This is also a paper-based exam just like APICET. This also consists of three sections, namely mathematical ability, analytical ability and communication. The exam is all set to take place on May 23, 2018.

Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET)

TANCET score is a must for an admission to management courses in Tamil Nadu. This is conducted by Anna University in Chennai on behalf of the government. TANCET tests the candidates on analysis of business situations, reading comprehension, quantitative ability, data sufficiency and English usage. The duration of the exam will be two hours. TANCET 2018 exam will take place on May 19.

Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) MBA

One of the popular state-level entrance examinations, OJEE MBA is conducted by the Odisha government. The OJEE MBA exam consists of verbal reasoning, analytical reasoning, general knowledge, comprehension, computer and business fundamentals. The duration of the exam will be two hours. OJEE MBA is all set to take place on May 13, 2018.

Joint Entrance Management Aptitude Test (JEMAT)

JEMAT is conducted for an admission to management programmes at institutes in West Bengal. This is a pen and paper based exam conducted once in a year. It usually tests the candidates on English, mathematics and logical reasoning. The duration of the exam is two hours. The JEMAT exam will take place May 19, 2018.
