Out of the three sections in the SBI PO preliminary round, quantitative aptitude is the most important one in both the preliminary and main examinations. Many students keep this section for the end while preparing saying it takes too much time to learn and that they face ambiguity in understanding the concepts. To the contrary, one should give utmost importance to this section because quantitative is a scoring section. Here are some tips to prepare for the quantitative aptitude section in SBI PO.
Know The Weightage
It is always good to know the weightage of the topics before initiating the preparation. The data interpretation is the most important topic in the quantitative aptitude section. Around ten questions are expected from this topic.
Approximately, five questions were asked from the topics such as quadratic equations, simplifications and number series. There is a saying that candidates who are good at data interpretation and simplification can clear the SBI PO preliminary round.
Touch All The Types Of Questions
It is advised to get familiar with all the types of questions including the data interpretation ones. This activity will save the time and fetch your more marks. Aspirants are suggested to pick a book of their choice and start solving the practise questions.
Practise All The Time
One can be confident in this quantitative section with effective practise. Starting from simplification to data interpretation, solve the practise questions. We advise you solve the previous years' question papers. Never encourage the use of a calculator while practising.
Tips For Data Interpretation
Around two sets of data interpretation questions are asked in SBI PO. The sets may be asked on the pie charts, line graphs, bar graphs, missing DI and tabular graphs. Start practising in such a way that the calculation part should be done without using a pen and paper or a calculator. The questions in the sets are usually from the topics such as ratio and proportion, percentages, profit and loss, averages, time and work, simple interest, compound interest, etc.
Focus On Simplifications
As we said above, approximately five questions will be based on the simplification topic. This area usually tests the basic calculations. Be familiar with the BODMAS rule in order to be strong in the topic. Learn up to 30 squares and cubes up to 25. This will save time in the examination.
Taking a mock test during the initial days of the preparations is not a bad idea because it will tell you the areas you need to improve in for the examination. Always stick to your time while taking the mock tests. And do not forgot to analyse which questions you got wrong. We suggest you take a mock test every week to assess your preparation level.
