Date: November 14

The birth anniversary of Former Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru is celebrated as children's day. Nehru was noted for his fondness for children. This day is otherwise commemorated as Baal Divas in Hindi. Cultural activities in schools mark the celebrations of the occassion during this time.


Date: March 17

The birth anniversary of the first President of Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is commemorated as children's day in Bangladesh. It was formulated by JAAGO Foundation, a volunteer organisation in Bangladesh that works for the welfare of its people. The country celebrates the day with child well being campaigns during that time.

Date: Fourth Wednesday of October

Australia celebrates children's week during October with a common theme, 'A caring world shares.' Decades ago, different states of the country celebrated Children's day on different days in October. After Commonwealth government requested them to have it on a common day, they fixed it on fourth Wednesday of October. Nevertheless, Australia has a week long celebration to compensate for it.



Date: November 20

In accordance with United Nations' decision, the country celebrates child day with the idea of protecting the rights of the children as the theme. It was registered in Bill C-371, otherwise known as the Child Day Act, by the Parliament of Canada in 1993. The motive of the day is to focus on child poverty and eradicate it.


Date: September 20

East Germany and West Germany celebrate it in different ways. While the former focus on presents from parents, the latter focussed more on political efforts to safeguard the rights of children. After both the parts united, they commonly hold public events on September 20 while some parents still continue to celebrate their children on June 1.
