All About JIPMER PG 2019 Exam

Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) under Government of India located in Puducherry is one of the leading medical institutions of India. JIPMER, which has been declared as an Institution of National Importance, imparts undergraduate, postgraduate and super speciality medical training through a working hospital.

JIPMER offers a range of courses that include MBBS, BSc, MSc, MD, MS, degree courses and others. The institute is also famous for its quality of education in DM/ MCh courses. Every year, JIPMER conducts an entrance examination for admission to both UG and PG courses. The institute has released a notification for the postgraduate courses such as MD, MS, DM and MCh.

JIPMER's online registrations have begun for the PG courses and candidates can apply for the same till October 26, 2018. The entrance exam for admission to PG courses will take place on December 2, 2018. The institute has also revealed the tentative dates for the counselling. JIPMER PG Eligibility

The educational requirement varies from one course to another. A candidate must possess MBBS or an equivalent degree from a recognised institute for MD/ MS courses. Candidates should have passed MD/ DNB degree from a recognized university or equivalent according to the instructions of the Medical Council of India for DM/ MCh.

MD Course: 62 seats
MS Course: 28 seats
DM Course: 25 seats
MCh Course: 16 seats

JIPMER PG Application Fee

Candidates have to pay INR 1600 plus transaction charges as application fee. For SC/ ST, the application fee is INR 1200 plus transaction charges. However, INR 3000 for candidates belonging to foreign nationals.

JIPMER PG Mock Test

Candidates are advised to start their preparation by giving a mock test which is available on the official website to get a good grip over the computer based test (online examination). Candidates are advised to understand and follow a video-which is also available on the site-made by the institute to assist aspirants in familiarizing them with the test.

JIPMER PG Exam Pattern

For MD/ MS courses:
The examination shall be conducted in English language only. The entrance examination is common to all and consists of 250 single best response type MCQs having four alternatives and the questions will be asked from the basic clinical sciences and clinical sciences. The duration of the examination shall be 3 hours.
For DM/ MCh courses:
This is also a computer based test (CBT). The duration of the examination will be 90 minutes. It will consist of 100 single best response type MCQs and the questions will be asked from the concerned speciality and related fields.

JIPMER PG Admit Card

Candidates can download their admit cards for the entrance examination from November 14, 2018. It will consist of important information such as name, date of birth, examination city allotted and roll number.

Duration Of Course

The duration of MD and MS is 36 months from the date of admission. Candidates will get the completion certificate only after 36 months i.e., 3 years of residency period. The duration of the DM and MCh is also three years.
