What is NID Exam?

India's premier and first design institute in the country, National Institute of Design (NID), has been declared as 'Institution of National Importance' by the Act of Parliament. The institute is internationally acclaimed as one amongst the multi-disciplinary institutes in the field of design education and research. The institute had its main campus in Ahmedabad, R&D campus in Bengaluru and Post Graduate campus in Gandhinagar. 

NID offer admissions to courses such as Bachelor of Design (B.Des), Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD) and Master of Design (M.Des) programmes. The candidates will be shortlisted based on the national-level entrance examination which will be conducted in two stages. 

Stage 1: Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims 

Stage 2: Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Mains

Candidates who qualify in the DAT Prelims are only eligible to appear for the DAT Mains examination. The DAT Prelims paper comprises of a mix of objective and subjective questions. The total number of seats for admission to B.Des and M.Des is 100 and 275, respectively. To read more about NID exam pattern, click here

Interested candidates can also pursue Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD) course at NID Kurukshetra and NID Vijayawada campuses. The total number of seats for GDPD course is 60 each for NID Vijayawada and Kurukshetra campus. The specialisations are offered in the following areas: 

1. Industrial Design

2. Communication Design

3. Textile & Apparel Design

Eligibility Criteria

For B.Des and GDPD: Candidates who have passed or will appear for higher secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations in the academic year 2018–19 in any stream (science, arts, commerce, etc.) from any recognised board of education such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or their equivalent. The upper age limit for candidates belonging to the general category is 20 years. The age relaxation is provided to candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ PWD/ OBC-NCL. NID Registration Process

Candidates who satisfy all the prerequisites set by the NID have to register online for admission to the courses. Here are the steps to register online for NID.

NID Results

Candidates have to appear for all the tests such as DAT Prelims and DAT Mains in order to be considered for the merit list. The NID results will be declared only on the official website. The candidates' scores will also be available for viewing at this time and separate score cards will not be sent individually to the candidates. To know about the NID exam dates, click here

NID DAT Admit Card 2021 Released

NIFT has released the admit card for the NID DAT 2021 exam. Candidates who have registered for the exam can download the NID DAT admit card 2021 on the official website - admissions.nid.edu.in. 

Candidates need to enter their login credentials to download the NID DAT admit card 2021. One should carry the identity card along with NID DAT 2021 admit card.

NID DAT 2021: Last Date To Correct Application Form

The National Institute of Design is all set to close the application window to correct the NID DAT 2021 application form. Candidates can make corrections only on the official website. 

 

The written exam will be held on March 14, 2021. The admit card for the exam will be available on the official site from March 4, onwards.

NID Design Aptitude Test 2021 Registration Ends Tomorrow

The registration window of NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) 2021 will be closed on February 17 with the regular fee for admission to Bachelor of Design (BDes) and Master of Design (MDes) programmes. Interested candidates can apply till February 17 at 4 pm.

One should fill all the mandatory fields and pay the application fee to complete the registration process. The application correction window will remain open from February 21 to February 23.

NID DAT 2021 Application Process Begins

The National Institute of Design (NID) has released the NID DAT application form 2021 on the official site. Candidates can start filling the application forms of NID DAT 2021 by providing the required details and documents till February 7.

The entrance exam if NID DAT 2021 will be conducted on in offline mode on March 14.

NID DAT Mains Result 2020 Declared

The National Institute of Design (NID) has declared the final result of NID DAT Mains for its BDes-GDPD admission. Students who have appeared for the examination can visit the official website of NID to access the NID DAT 2020 result. The result is available for Bachelor of Design (BDes) and Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD).

The successful students of NID DAT 2020 mains can take admissions in the NID campuses located in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh. The Main exam held on June 23.
