NEET UG Selection Procedure

Admissions to MBBS / BDS courses is based only on the merit list prepared by NTA after the exam.

Students must have to know the admission procedure for 15% All India Quota Seats and Reservation for these seats for reserved category candidates. An All India merit list of the qualified candidates shall be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in NEET-UG 2024 examination.

A candidate shall be admitted to MBBS/BDS courses under 15% All India Quota Seats and seats under the control of participating state governments/ Universities / Institutions as in the list in information bulletin.

The candidate's score has to be at least 50% to be included in the merit list. This cut-off has been loosened to the 40 Percentile for candidates who fall into the SC, ST, or OBC Categories.

The minimum percentile needed to pass the exam may be lowered by the Central Government in collaboration with the MCI and CBSE if, for whatever reason, fewer applicants that expected score a 50 percentile.

Additionally, the candidate must have received a cumulative score of 15% in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Biotechnology on the 10+2 qualifying test. For applicants who identify as SC, ST or OBC who must receive a 40% aggregate to be eligible for this exam, this total has been lowered.

The AIR for a NEET Student is impacted if two or more candidtes receive identical scores.

In these situations, the NEET Score would be assessed using the following standards:

  • Students who have secured higher marks in Biology
  • Students who have secured higher marks in Chemistry
  • Students that have provided less incorrect responses across all academic areas.
  • Student older in age will be preferred

Merit List for 15% seats under All India Quota:

Seats under the entire India quota will be available to the top 15% of students.

This threshold is anticipated to be set at 470 points out of 720. A four-times longer waiting list than merit list will also exist.

Merit list for seats under State Quota:

The list of qualified applicants from each State / UT will be sent to the relevant State / UT's Directorate of Medical Education for the purpose of allocating seats through online counselling or in-person presence, in accordance with any applicable State / UT rules.

Merit List for AFMC and other Medical Institutions / Universities:

The Ministry of Defence, Government of India, and the Directorate General of Armed Force Medical Service will get the List of Successful. Candidates who chose for AFMC for Second Stage Screening and Counselling.

Admissions in State Medical Colleges / Universities / Institutions / AFMC Pune other than 15% All India Quota:

  • In case a State/University/Institution opts to admit students in its medical colleges from the merit list of NEET-UG, it may prepare separate rank list based on All India rank in NEET-UG and other criteria decided by it
  • List of States/Universities/Institutions that have decided to use the result of NEET-UG 2024 as in the list of Information Bulletin
  • Candidates seeking admission in seats other than 15% All India Quota are advised to visit the websites of State / University / Institution as mentioned in the bulletin and contact their authorities concerned in advance for eligibility criteria and other details for admission
  • Admission to Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune shall be subject to the norms prescribed by the Directorate of Armed Force Medical Services, Ministry of Defence, Government of India
  • Candidates who apply for NEET-UG 2024 and also seeking admission in AFMC will have to apply on the website of AFMC

Reservation of Seats in Government Medical Colleges Under 15% All India Quota:

  • 15% seats are reserved for SC candidates
  • 7.5% seats are reserved for ST candidates
  • 27% seats are reserved for a non-creamy layer of OBC candidates in Central Educational Institutions
  • 5% seats are reserved for Physically Handicapped candidates

Note:

15%  of All India Quota, a separate list will be prepared based on their admission policies. Candidates seeking admission to AFMC Pune shall be subjected to the norms prescribed by The Directorate of Armed Forces Medical Services.

Ministry of Defence, Government of India. Students who have applied to AIPMT and are also seeking admission in AFMC will have to apply on the website of AFMC, i.e. www.afmc.nic. Shortlisted candidates will be required to appear for a second stage screening conducted by AFMC. For further details visit the official website.


List of colleges accepting the scores of this exam:

As per the new orders, norms & conditions of the official board, all the private medical colleges are to accept NEET-UG 2024 Scores. Moreover, more than 3000 colleges are under NEET-UG 2024. Apart from these, Union Territory Medical Colleges will also accepting NEET-UG 2024 Scores.
