IGNOU Introduces PG Diploma In Development Communication

PGDDC programme aims to provide students with a solid understanding of the key concerns of the development process, which will help them find employment in several local, national, and worldwide organisations.

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will offer a new postgraduate diploma programme from July 2021 session in Development Communication (PGDDC). Professor Nageshwar Rao, Vice-Chancellor of IGNOU, introduced the new academic programme designed by the School of Journalism and New Media Studies. PGDDC aims to provide students with a solid understanding of the key concerns of the development process, which will help them find employment in several local, national, and worldwide organisations.

 
IGNOU Introduces Development Communication Course

The new academic programme's duration is one year. Students who have completed their undergraduate studies will be eligible to apply for the postgraduate diploma programme in Development Communication. The interested candidates can apply for the PGDDC programme via the university's admission portal at ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in.

Professor J S Yadav, Former Director IIMC and eminent Expert in development communication and research, spoke about the importance of such a programme in a developing country like India during the launch of the postgraduate diploma programme. He stated that this programme is incredibly unique and original and that it would provide excellent job opportunities for all students who participate in it.

According to Professor KG Suresh, Vice-Chancellor of the Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication Bhopal, the relevance of Development Communication cannot be overstated, and the time for this subject and course has arrived. He stated that there is a need to bring this discipline to the villages and that students enrolled in this programme should focus on the requirements of the rural sector so that concerns of grass-root development can be addressed more seriously and in a more organised manner.
