Established in 1972, Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology & Applied Nutrition, Hyderabad is a registered Society under the Telangana Area Public Societies Act, 1350 Fasli (Act I of 1350F). It was started with the name, Food Craft Institute (Hyderabad) Society, Hyderabad.

The institute is also recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. This hotel management institute is also accredited by the International Accreditation Organization (IAO).

The college offered diploma courses in the beginning and in 1984, it was converted into a school of hotel management. Currently, this hotel management institute offers diplomas, add-on certificate courses, undergraduate and postgraduate courses. It has been ranked as one of the top ten institutes in India.
