The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education, Pune is an autonomous body established under the provisions of the Maharashtra Act No. 41 of 1965. The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education conducts the HSC and SSC Examinations in the state of Maharashtra through its nine Divisional Boards located at Pune, Mumbai, Aurangabad, Nasik, Kolhapur, Amravati, Latur, Nagpur and Ratnagiri. The Board conducts examination twice a year and the number of students appearing for the main examination is around 14 Lacs for HSC and 17 Lacs for SSC.
For the supplementary examination around 6 Lacs students are expected HSC and SSC together. There are about 21000 schools (SSC) and 7000 (HSC) Higher Section schools/ Junior colleges in the entire state. There are special students as well for class 10th and class 12th.
According to an official notice issued by the Maharashtra State board of Secondary and Higher education confirmed that the written Higher Secondary Certificate HSC (Class XII) exams will commence from February 28, 2017, and will end on March 25, 2017. While the Secondary School Certificate SSC (Class X) exams will begin from March 7, 2017, and will get over on April 1, 2017.
How are the exams conducted? The practical and oral examinations for HSC started from February 8, 2017, and will go on until February 25, 2017. The SSC exam practical and oral will be conducted between February 15, 2017, and March 4, 2017.
