8 Tips for Time Management At Workplace

When you are overwhelmed with work and not able to tackle it, just chalk out a strategy. A proper planning is all it takes. Proper planning can be successful only when it is coupled with time management. Managing time at workplace attains utmost importance as it yields to work efficiency and takes you on the strides of success.

1. Plan for a productive day

Planning for the day plays a key role to increase productivity at workplace. Schedule the work and fix a time frame according to which you need to work. Make the best of the time when you feel like focussing on the work;  for example, concentration levels vary while working, hence, try to complete the task when you feel comfortable.

2. Prioritise your work

Files piled on your desk may leave you in the state of confusion as to which file to take up on priority. To overcome the dilemma, maintain a yardstick based on which you need to work. Try to analyse the importance of the work at hand. Other work may also be on the urgency list, but be patient enough to differentiate between importance and urgency.

For exampls, if you are into sales, think whether it is the right time to reach the market and the profit you will get on the delivery of the product.

3. Do not postpone work

Postponing work will not help you to meet the goals. Ensure you complete the assigned task in the stipulated time. Be regular at work instead of feeling bad about the undone work. It also relieves you from the last minute burden.

4. Cut Down Phone and E-mail usage

Answering phone calls and Email snatches most our work time. Calls in between work distract concentration and lead to poor productivity for the day. Therefore, regulate the chatting time and devote the same time on completing your work.

5. Discuss and Delegate

It is better to have discussion before you take up the task. Decide if the assigned task can be achieved by you if not delegate the work to someone who is capable. There is nothing wrong if your work is transferred to a capable person as it ensures on-time and error-free delivery.

6. Be Organised

Being organized helps you save time. Lack of co-ordination will end up in lesser productivity. For example: create a list of do's and dont's. Unsubscribe the mails that are not relevant to you as either attending and not attending the mails may leave your inbox filled with spams.

7. Keep a Track of Work

Have a report to track your day to day work. Tracking your daily report enables you to analyse your work efficiency based on which you can improve the productivity.

8. Work Smarter, not Harder

Last but not the least is 'Work Smarter, Not Harder'. Have a smart strategy towards the work rather than working hard. Plan well and see how you can work efficiently. Simplifying your work and doing things fast with time management helps you achieve success at workplace.
