The highest job offer ever in the college history, a boy of University Visvesveraya College of Engineering (UVCE), Bangalore has received a salary package of Rs 19.5 lakh from a Japanese Company.
A final year student of Information Science of UVCE, Shashank Koppar from Raichur district, was selected in the campus placements by Rakuten, an international e-commerce company.
According to the colleges officials, Shashank is the first student to get a huge job offers in placements. The college had started the placement process since 97 years. [IIT Kharagpur bags maximum jobs compared to other IITs]
Shashank said "I never thought I will be selected for a campus interview. After clearing five rounds, I was chosen. I will be joining work on September 1, 2015."
Shashank's father Harish Koppar is a clerk in a bank, and his mother Shalini Koppar is a homemaker.
UVCE Principal, K R Venugopal said that the highest salary package was Rs 16 lakh from Microsoft in 2013. The average salary package for the students who get selected in the campus interview in UVCE is Rs 4 to 4.5 lakh.
