The University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi has decided to offer scholarships to GATE qualified candidates from this year.
Earlier, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi provided scholarships of Rs 8,000/- per month, for GATE qualified candidates.
However, the GATE regulation has been undertaken by UGC and new scholarships are likely to be introduced from this year.
These scholarships would be applicable for all the universities and colleges offering Master of Engineering (M.E) and Mater of Technology (M.Tech) courses for GATE candidates.
A valid GATE score is required to apply for scholarships. Candidates must have scored excellent marks in GATE for postgraduate programmes in engineering, technology and architecture disciplines.
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.
The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, had conducted GATE for the year 2014, for admission to postgraduate engineering courses in IITs and IISc.
