A valid GATE score is required to apply for scholarships. Candidates must have scored excellent marks in GATE for postgraduate programmes in engineering, technology and architecture disciplines.

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), is an all India examination administered and conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, had conducted GATE for the year 2014, for admission to postgraduate engineering courses in IITs and IISc.
