November 14, 2016, Bangalore: After the successful completion of two previous chapters, the 3rd edition of the CISMUN held at the Canadian International School in Bangalore, witnessed a greater participation from students across the country. With the theme of "Empowering the silenced", this year's Model United Nations (MUN) saw a participation of 220 students from 16 schools with a majority of the delegates from Bangalore for the two-day event.

The objective of a Model United Nations is to bring about a UN type simulation, awareness and pro activity regarding pressing world issues while developing skills of advocacy, debating, diplomacy etc. amidst the students.

The committees in place for the CISMUN include the UNSC Third edition of Model United Nations (United Nations Security Council), DISEC (United Nations General Assembly First Committee), UNHRC (United Nations Human Rights Council), ESOSOC (Economic and Social Council), WHO (World Health Organization) and FAU (Future African Union).

Many voices are simply not heard and this so often leads to apathy, injustice, neglect and merely moving ahead with the status quo, negating social and economic growth, and instilling a societal malaise.

Speaking on the theme for this year's MUN, Shane Kells, Head of School at Canadian International mentioned "What better message to focus on than lending a voice to those who may not be in a situation to be effectively heard themselves".

"Pragmatism, perseverance and proactivity - 3 key words that will help us all work towards a better tomorrow. The world is changing and we are educating students for jobs and skills that probably don't exist right now, so making sure that we are perseverant and proactive will reduce the need to solve problems that are of our own making", said Robert King - High School Principal, speaking on the event that has seen two successful years.
