Govt of Telangana Launched Its Digital Classroom Programme in 3,352 Schools

Telangana launched its digital classroom programme in 3,352 high schools in the state. On the first day 3,352 out of the total 5,400 Government-run high schools were covered under the scheme.

The government of Telangana yesterday launched its digital classroom programme in 3,352 high schools in the state. The scheme was formally inaugurated by education minister K Srihari and IT Minister K T Rama Rao.

 

The programme of on its first day covered 3,352 out of the total 5,400 Government-run high schools. Under it, students would get to watch teaching of various subjects via Mana TV, an educational channel started by the government.

The digital classroom programme would be extended to all schools by the beginning of 2017 academic year said the officials.

The initiative is in accordance with the CM's emphasis on human resource development for realizing the dream of making Telangana a 'golden' State.

Observing that a digital revolution is taking place across the world, the IT Minister said rapid growth can be achieved with the help of modern technology.

The government is also working on providing Internet connection to all households in the state, Rao added.

The Telangana government with an aim to improve quality of education across the state has decided to implement digital classroom in all the schools. Digital classroom will be introduced in about 1,500 schools in the first phase on November 14, 2016.

Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari said in Hyderabad on Monday, that the implementation of digital classroom across the state is a part of the government's resolve to improve quality of education.

The government has also quoted that it will set up computer labs in schools as a part of the initiative.

The minister also stated that the official notification for District Selection Committee for teachers' recruitment would be announced soon. The notification was delayed due to re-organisation of districts in the state.

In another bid to improve education quality in the state, the government of Telangana entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to improve services of its educational channel 'Mana TV'.

The MoU was singed by the officials of the Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communication of the state government, and ISRO's Development & Educational Communication Unit (DECU).
