History of AP to be removed from school textbooks

On a serious note, Telangana government has decided to remove the history and culture of the Andhra Pradesh from the school textbooks.

From the next academic year, the history and culture of AP will not be printed in the new curriculum for the schools in Telangana.

Telangana government has formed a committee to review the syllabus of the subjects social studies, history and telugu, in a replacement to add Telangana-centric chapters in textbooks. The changes in the syllabus will not affect the students in the examination. Both the states are in the process of changing the curriculum for the schools.

Telangana Education Minister, G Jagadish Reddy has said the committees to remove AP related material and history about AP or literature by writers and poets will not be preset in the curriculum.

Committee official said, "We have instructions from the government, that nothing related to the history and culture of AP should be there. Everything should from Telangana's perspective."

The Director of State Council of Educational Research and Training, S Jagannath Reddy said, "If there is a chapter related to the poet from AP, it will be replaced with a Telangana-related chapter."
