Student Scholarship Applications Open for the Grace Hopper Celebration

Bangalore, July 15, 2015: The Anita Borg Institute (ABI), a non-profit organization focused on the advancement of women in computer science and engineering, today opened applications for the student scholarships (for women students).

 

The scholarships are awarded to deserving undergraduate and graduate women students in computing and IT to attend the annual Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing India (GHCI) 2015 conference, to be held from 2-4 December, 2015 in Bangalore.

The GHCI student scholarships program aims to increase the participation of women students in computing and IT at the conference.

At GHCI students get a chance to connect with other women in computing and innovative organizations; hear stories from peers and experts in computing and get quality career advice specific to their needs.

During GHCI 2014, a 130 full and partial scholarships were awarded to deserving women students in technology.

The student scholarships cover the expenses for attending the GHCI conference including the registration fee, meals and lodging for every scholarship recipient.

Travel (by train or bus) is reimbursed up to a maximum of Rs 2,000 per student.

The applications for the student scholarships close on 28 August, 2015.

GHCI 2015 is a multi-day conference being held on 2 December, 2015 (White Orchid Convention Centre) and 3 & 4 December, 2015 (Vivanta by Taj, Yeshwantpur) in Bangalore. Every year the conference attracts high participation from professionals, entrepreneurs, students, corporations, government and academia.

The theme of the 2015 conference is ‘Our Time to Lead'.
