Soon MANIT will get IGNOU study center

Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), soon will get an IGNOU study center in its premises. Once set up, it will have the distinction to be the first engineering institute in the state to bost of such facility.

The announcement about Indira Gandhi National Open University study center came on Friday. Talking to the media persons, regional director of IGNOU, UC Pandey says "University has taken clutch of initiatives for students. Opening a study center at MANIT is one of them."

About the center, Pandey says "The center will introduce a few programmes of the open university like geo-informatics, management and engineering. It will give access to the world class infrastructure academic expertise of MANIT to all those, who otherwise cannot avail such facilities through conventional way of education. Free of cost facility will be a big help to students not studying in the institute."

He added further "IGNOU regional center, Bhopal, has become first such center in the country to have taken initiatives for sensitising village panchayats about IGNOU run courses. The idea is to motivate panchayat functionaries and speak their help to sensitise people about education opportunities available through IGNOU."

Besides, special study center for people living in slums will be opened. Gyaan-Vaani, an educational based FM radio will soon start beaming programmes from new premises of IGNOU at Area Hills. At present, it is being broadcast from Hindi Granth Academy.

IGNOU has recently declared results for B Ed entrance test. "For 1,300 seats, 2,700 candidates appeared for the test. Merit list will be announced soon." Pandey said.
