Samskrita Sahitya Parishad's Sanskrit competitions for students

Samskrita Sahitya Parishad organised a variety of competitions in Sanskrit at Tiruchi. The competitions were organised in different categories for school and college students. 200 students from 10 educational institution which consisted of seven schools and three colleges took part in the event.

On December 1st music competition was on Sanskrit Kritis. This was held in four categories.

Two composers were alloted to each group and they were to prepare one kriti of each. Muthuswamy Dikshitar, Syama Sastri and Jayadeva are some on the personalities that the event had. The rest of the competitions were held on 8th of December.

The sloka recitation competition had five categories. Adi Shankaracharya and Valmiki among others were the slokas on which the students were tested on. Participants got 15 minutes to enact a drama in the drama competition. The college students has essay and elocution competitions. ‘Salient features of Indian Culture' and ‘Kalidasa excels in similes' were the topics for essay.

The Parishad's website will have the winners who have won in the compilations in a few days time, said Samskrita Sahitya Parishad's secretary, V.Balakrishna Sarma.
