The Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) has started hiring GATE candidates for entry level as engineers. This has increased the percentage of candidates appearing for GATE exam.
GATE is an qualifying entrance exam for the candidates seeking admission in Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, for various postgraduate programmes.
To apply for GATE, candidates must have passed Bachelor's degree from any of the recognised universities.
Candidates who has already appeared GATE exam from 2012, are eligible to get jobs at PSUs.
PSUs have started hiring the GATE candidates on the basis of the performance in the entrance examination.
This helps the candidates to get the Job without writing any exam at any of the organisations. It also reduces the unemployment opportunities.
However, candidates who score low marks in GATE, which is lower than the minimum cut-offs announced by the companies, lose out on the opportunity to acquire a job in all the companies that recruit candidates on the basis of GATE scores.
