Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI) is contemplating to introduce online entrance test for MD/DM course after Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry from academic year 2017.
Admissions for 2016 will be held through paper based examination for the last time, which is scheduled to be held on December 20.
Online test will ensure transparency
According to TOI report, the administration has decided to do away with paper-based examination and conduct online tests in order to ensure transparency after the exam cheating racket exposed by the CBI in 2012. The test will be similar to entrance test and will take few years to get finalised.
PGI has already started the online application form and payment of the test. The administration has also taken other preventive measures after the racket was exposed in 2012.
The institute ensured that every student is frisked, jammers are installed and nobody is allowed to even carry personal pens.
After initiating strict measures no case of cheating or copying has been reported. However, administration is looking forward for online tests to ensure higher transparency and convenience to candidates.
