Petroleum varsity starts functioning from 2015

The proposed Petroleum University in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh will start functioning from the next academic year, 2015-16.

 

The Central government had formed a team, which had visited many places in AP to finalise the best place for the new varsity. The team was looking at sites based on the availablity of adequete space to construct buildings, library, teaching facilities and others. The team consisted of Director of Rajiov Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, Dr G J Gupta and project advisor S P Mathur.

Gupta said that academic classes would commence from the next academic year in the month of July / August 2015. Initially, the classes would commence in temporary buildings. It will take 3 years to build the university. The detailed report of the establishment of varsity will be handed over to the Central government.

He also said that Assam Petroleum University is also offering petroleum courses. The new varsity will be established under Union Ministry of Petroleum. East Godavari is the best place to establish the new petroleum university. The district has vast natural resources such as oil explorations under Krishna Godavari river basin, which would be very useful to the students.

Joint Engineering Entrance test will be conducted for admission to the students in this university.
