Osmania University to conduct SET for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh

OU conducts SET for Telangana and AP

Osmania University is all set to conduct State Eligibility Test (SET) for the states Telangana and Andhra Predesh. SET is conducted for appointment of assistant professors and lecturers in the government colleges across the state.

 

Osmania University, Vice-chancellor, Prof S Satyanarayana said that the State Council for Higher Education requested the government of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to grant permission to conduct SET for both states by the Osmania University.

Telangana government has already issued government order to conduct SET for the year 2014 and 2015.

OU is waiting for the permission from AP government to conduct the test.

Satyanarayana said, "If the decision has not arrived, OU would go with ahead with the test".

Osmania University conducts SET for candidates besides possessing minimum academic qualifications. These candidates are required to qualify in a comprehensive test, specifically conducted for the purpose of obtaining eligibility for appointment as Lecturers/Assistant Professors.

The State Eligibility Test (SET) is based on the pattern of the National Eligibility Test (CSIR/UGCNET) conducted by UGC/CSIR. The State Governments and Union Territories, that wish to conduct the SET are supposed to obtain accreditation from UGC from time to time.

Qualification in SET is mandatory for candidates seeking employment as Assistant Professors in universities, colleges and other educational institutions. However, candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D degree are exempt from the requirement.
