Phulbani: Kui Samaj Samanya Samiti (KSSS), an apex body of tribals, has demanded setting up of a medical college in Odisha's Kandhamal district.
KSSS secretary Lambodar Kanhar demanded the state government set up a medical college in Kandhamal district like four other places including Puri.
Though the KSSS had been demanding a medical college in Kandhamal for six years, the state government did not pay any heed.
"Naveen'babu has turned a deaf ear to our persistent and genuine demand. We will resort to an indefinite bandh across the entire district for fulfilment of our long standing genuine demand," Kanhar said.
Stating that KSSS had met the Chief Minister on several occasions and pressed for its 34 points charter of demands, Kanhar said the state government did not fulfil them.
"Naveen had said he likes Kandhmal as Biju'babu, but the Chief Minister was not interested about the development of Kandhamal," Kanhar alleged.
