NIT, Trichy's Pragyan to challenge Chennai

Pragyan, the annual International Techno-managerial Organisation of NIT Trichy, is hosting its first outreach programme at Chennai on November 1 and 2, 2014. The two-day programme for college students will be held in the premises of Sathyabama University and aims to give students a glance of how the main Pragyan festival will be.

Pragyan is an ISO certified organisation with its eponymous festival as its flagship activity every year. Square One-Chennai, the outreach programme for this year, has three events, a workshop and a guest lecture framing the agenda. Guest lecturer, Mr. P Sivakumar, is an Outstanding Scientist and Director of Combat Vehicles R&D establishment, Defence Research and Development Organisation, Ministry of Defence, Avadi. He will inaugurate the programme and address the students about general science and technology.

Circuitrix, the workshop-cum-event, will test the students' basic electronics debugging skills. The workshop aims at brushing up essential electronics knowledge that will then be tested in the event on November 1. Participants are expected to participate as a team of three members and stand to win 8000 INR as prize.

The Regional Prelims of National Inter-Collegiate Pragyan Quiz will be held on November 2. The event invites teams of 3 to participate, and the top 3 teams of the regional prelims will win 10000 INR as prize. Also, the regional winner team will be provided train fare for a to- and - fro trip to the National Finals of the Pragyan Quiz, to be held at NIT Trichy from February 26 to March 1, 2015. The Quiz will test the participants their general awareness of Science, technology and business.

String theory, the science fiction writing contest, is expected to boost the participants' creativity and the programme's festivity. It is a 24 hour writing contest, topics of which will be given on the spot on November 1. Prizes worth 2500 INR are up for grabs.

To help students be a part of "HoverOne" event of the main Pragyan, a hovercraft workshop will be held on November 1,2 by Aerosapiens. The workshop focusses on building remote controlled hovercrafts and the theory behind it. Team of four members can be a part of this 2 day-8 hours each- workshop. Cost: 8000 INR per team. The deadline for registration is October 28th.
