NIT Jalandar declares 1 day symposium on trends in mining industry

NIT Jalandhar's Emerging Trends in Mining Industry

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jalandar, has announced dates for one-day symposium on "Emerging Trends in Mining Industry".

 

This conference is sponsored by Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP-II) and organised by the Department of Mining Engineering, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology , Jalandhar.

Objective of the conference:

Mining Engineering is an engineering discipline that involves the practice, the theory, the science, the technology, and application of extracting and processing minerals from a naturally occurring environment. Mineral extraction is essential to modern society. Mining activities by their nature cause a disturbance of the environment in and around which the minerals are located. Mining engineers must therefore be concerned not only with the production and processing of mineral commodities, but also with the mitigation of damage to the environment as a result of that production and processing.

Course Content:

The following topics, are proposed to be covered during the symposium, but the list is not limited to just the ones mentioned here:

  • Global Issues and Challenges in Mining Industry
  • Occupational health and safety in Mining Industry
  • Environmental Management in Mining Industry
  • Mine Surveying
  • Mining Geology
  • Surface Mining
  • Mining Machinery
  • Mining Legislation
  • Mining Economics
  • Advance Exploration Techniques

Faculty members and interested students can take part in the event. An application must be sent to the coordinator of the course in the prescribed proforma by due date through proper channel.

No registration fee is applicable for academic institutes

Last date of receiving completed registration forms (through proper channel): January 31, 2014.
The selected participants will be informed through email/ phone by February 07, 2014
