The India Rankings 2017 of National Institutional Ranking Framework - NIRF is going to be released today by the Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar.
What is NIRF?
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) conducts the ranking system for Indian universities based on various parameters. It was introduced in 2016.
When was NIRF first developed?
The NIRF ranking system was first developed by the MHRD in September of 2015.
How does NIRF collect data?
It is commonly guessed that the NIRF is all set with the process of collecting data about the universities and higher educational institutes through the Data Capturing System (DCS).
What is the basis for NIRF ranking?
As per reports, the ranking is done with parameters such as teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practices, graduation outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, and perception
This method is formulated by the recommendations broad understanding arrived at by a Core Committee set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, to identify the broad parameters for ranking various universities and institutions.
New participants
This project has over 800 new participants. Last year, IIT Madras secured the top spot, as the topmost engineering college, followed by IIT Mumbai and IIT Kharagpur. The top management institution is IIM Bangalore, while Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore is the best university in India.
Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and the University of Hyderabad are also among the list of best universities of India. JNU has been ranked third, Hyderabad University has been ranked fourth best institute.
